Overview

Visit the Sanctuary in Fatima, one of the most significant Christian pilgrimage sites in the world with almost 5 million people annually, and experience what it’s like to be a pilgrim.

Make a visit to the Chapel of the Apparitions. This is the genuine center of the sanctuary; a marble column with Our Lady of Fátima’s image stands exactly where the Virgin Mary appeared to the three young children. Look inside the Nossa Senhora do Rosário Basilica where you might find the graves of all three of the children: Francisco, Jacinta, and Lúcia.

Discover the stunning 14th-century Batalha Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site since the 1980s. Built by the initiative of D. João I of Portugal, in the sequence of a promise he made to Our Lady of Victory, should She choose to favour the Portuguese in the battle of Aljubarrota (1385) against the army of Castilla.

Take a picture of the breathtaking Atlantic Ocean views from the top of the Nazaré cliffs. Since its founding, fishing has been a significant and long-standing tradition in the village. There are a ton of fish and seafood eateries there.
As we travel along the Atlantic coast to our next stop in Óbidos, take in the sea wind. Love this charming medieval community that dates back more than 2000 years. For many travellers, this stay is the most memorable because of its winding streets, medieval buildings, castle walls, and handicraft stores. Before returning to Lisbon, have a typical Ginja (cherry) liquor in a chocolate cup.
