Overview
As we make our way to the heart of the old city, we will begin the trip by descending Avenue of Liberdade. We will make two noteworthy stops: Lisbon’s Cathedral (Sé), the city’s oldest church, and Senhora do Monte, from where you can get the best views of both the city and the Tejo River. We will next travel via Alfama, the birthplace of fado music, the National Pantheon, and Comércio Square before turning onto the road that leads to Belém, one of Lisbon’s most significant and ancient districts.
The majority of the famous Portuguese explorers left on their expeditions from Belém, so we’ll take you on a tour of the Jerónimos Monastery, the Belém Tower, and the Discoveries Monument while also indulging you with some of the mouthwatering, globally renowned “Pastéis de Belem” pastries. As we return to the city center, we’ll drive through the Estrela Basilica, the Parliament, the Bairro Alto and Chiado neighborhoods before parking in the Baixa (Downtown) neighborhood and taking a short stroll through some of Lisbon’s most picturesque squares (Rossio, Figueira and Restauradores).
